About Image

Jeerakati Rice (also known as Jeera Kasti / Jeerakati Rice) is a premium short-grain  rice traditionally grown in specific regions of West Bengal and parts of Odisha. It is highly valued for its natural taste, soft texture, and quick-cooking properties.

Key Features

  • Aromatic & Flavorful: Naturally sweet, mildly floral aroma that enhances the taste of any dish.

  • Short-Grain Variety: Grains are small, plump, and slightly creamy in texture.

  • Quick Cooking: Cooks faster than many other rice varieties, making it ideal for daily meals.

  • Soft & Fluffy: After cooking, the rice becomes soft, fluffy, and non-sticky.

  • Premium Heirloom Variety: Known for its purity, traditional cultivation, and superior taste.

Culinary Uses

  • Widely used in Bengali cuisine for bhog/prasad, kheer, payesh, and special dishes.

  • Also used in South Indian dishes, especially Malabar biryani (similar to Kaima/Jeerakasala rice).

  • Perfect for everyday meals such as dal–rice, curd rice, lemon rice, and light home-style dishes.

What Makes It Special

Jeerakati Rice stands out for its aroma + softness + rich traditional taste. It belongs to the same aromatic family as Gobindobhog rice, giving it a naturally premium quality.
